Broadcast quality multimedia content distributed over
Wi-Fi throughout the entire home ... for the very first
time!
The Problem
While broadband providers are actively focused on and
delivering the next generation of multimedia service to
consumers over an all IP infrastructure, it’s not enough
for carriers to simply get content to the consumer’s
doorstep. Distributing this content throughout the home,
over a single network, has become a stumbling block for
carriers and consumers alike.
Wi-Fi is widely seen as the preferred method of networking
devices in the home. But the technology has largely been
optimized for data. Wi-Fi’s present inadequate range,
spotty coverage, inconsistent performance, and erratic
interference has have led to the development of new
products and technology that makes multimedia distribution
in the home more feasible and cost-effective.
The Solution
Ruckus Wireless has innovated technology breakthroughs that
allow, for the first time, the ability to transmit standard
and high definition (IP-based) digital TV signals over
standards based 802.11a/b/g Wi-Fi. The Company has also
developed one of the first purpose-built metro Wi-Fi
customer premise receivers capable of ensuring a reliable,
long-range connection to outdoor broadband Wi-Fi networks.
It’s flagship product, MediaFlex, is acknowledged as the
first wireless multimedia home distribution system – a
combination of unique networking hardware and software
technology that solves the problems surrounding voice,
video and data distribution over Wi-Fi throughout the home.
Ruckus’ wireless multimedia system incorporates
state-of-the-art advances, such as its patent-pending
BeamFlex and SmartCast technologies that directly extend
Wi-Fi signals to any user, constantly steer RF signals
around interference and prioritize traffic types over the
air. The result is picture-perfect transmission of voice,
streaming video, IPTV and data to every corner of the
house.
